It sure can be done- My band tunes to drop B - B F# B E G# and C# - On Occasion I tune the 2 high strings to F# and B - I Use REALLY REALLY heavy strings and have my guitar intonated this way - I use Dimarzio 13 Gauge - 56-13 Maybe this will work for you...
