Hi Todd,
I have an MC 68 that I purchased new around '89. I was on a search for "the guitar." After playing dozens, I found the MC 68. I wanted a bright, crisp, clear high end, with a smooth, but not overwhelming mid-range, and a Duane Eddy (I know, he plays an electric) throaty-bahwow low end. Love that guitar. Other than the elitists who posit that Martins should sound a particular way ( the Bluegrass-types are the worst) I find this model to have a wonderful sound. (It does make a better lead guitar-or fingerstyle- than rhythm, in my opinion. My Gibson J-45 makes a good rhythm guitar for recording--not much as a solo instrument, though.) The one problem I have had with the 68 is the neck binding has come up three times. It was covered under warranty, other than being without it for a while, it was no problem. Like I said, I love that guitar.
Bob
