If I can solve my unravelling problem and decide to go ahead with the heavier gauge strings, I'll need to widen the string slots in the nut so they will accept them... one problem after another! The nut looks like it won't fit much heavier than .009-.046...
: if its unraveling at the bead why would you need to file the nut? maybe the problem is down there on the guitar.
: : First, be sure you want to use these gauge strings for a long time before filing the nut, cause if you don't like the new strings, you'll need a new nut. I would have a tech set your guitar up. not only will the nut have to be filed, but you will need your guitar strobe tuned with the new gauge strings. Good luck.
