: I'm looking at a washburn Idol guitar and i'm wondering how good it is, i know nothing about it.

I "took a chance" and bought a Washburn Idol series WI24 primarily because it was soooo cheap (or should I say inexpensive). Turns out it was the BEST chance I may have ever made! I've been playing privately, publically, and just about everything in between for 25+ years and this guitar (with stock, factory open-coil humbuckers) is one of the best I have ever played and I've owned some expensive, top of the line guitars. The neck is extremly fast, the body fits well when you strap it on, and the Grover 18:1 tuners do their job very well. Only drawback: tends to be head heavy. Potential drawback: don't know what kind of wood the body is made of (neck is maple with mahog. fretboard). But with the sound, tones, and durability, who cares what kind of wood it is. Buy one. Snobs may scoff at you playing a Washburn...until they hear it.
