I'm really confused about modes. I understand the modes starting in Cmaj.No#'s or b's. Ionian starts with C, Dorian with D Phrygian with E etc.but when it comes to other scales theres where the confustion starts. Ex: I'm Starting in Dmaj 2#'s f&c. Is that Dmaj considered the Ionian mode and do all the following mode just use the # and b of the Dmaj.Now the next mode is Dorian which would be an E note (which as a major has 4 #'s). Do I use the E as a Major or like I asked, do I still continue to use only the Dmaj # and b??? Help. Very confusing.
