Footswitch help

: I have a Peavey Bandit 112 (I believe its an older version). Anyways, I've been using one of my Boss distortion pedals for distortion. My friend just sent me some sweet settings to get a good sound for punk and ska (I play those two genres most). I put it to the settings and plugged in my Footswitch. : I don't know now how to work the Footswitch from there on. I hit all the various buttons and kept trying it, I get no distortion which I turn it on. : HELP ME! Please! : Thanks!, : Jeff
