: I am also trying to configure a device that will strum maybe using the tapping of a foot for a man who has lost the use of his left hand and is looking to try to play left handed guitar to cope with not being able to play.

There's something (now) called an E bow; availible on line and at some stores. It seems(?) to require an electric guitar or at least a pick-up. And with the help of some biomed students at Tulane they came up with a pedal device to depress all open strings and slidable to any fret, so you could play open chords only using a non conventional tuning.
