: Personally, the Big Muff is the best pedal distortion available. Because it is simple, it allows the guitar and amp to come through or it can be a tone generator giving you gobs of gain/distortion.
Just remember that for best results, your guitar should be in tune(I find that even the slightest tuning problem can make evil overtones with the muff) and don't turn it all the way up. I could never get a decent sound with it dimed. Try putting the volume half way up and the sustain(distortion) half way, then play with the tone knob to add treble. I recommend a tube amp with it since a tube amp usually reacts musically to input gain(ie a pedal)rather than a solid state amp. I've played and owned most of the classic pedals and the Big Muff is my favorite.
