: Hi from England. You must be really upset to have sold such a treasured guitar. It's something I worry about my kids doing, having a Lowden and an old Dobro Squareneck but I'm sure you'll find a quality Martin if you look around. If you want one that's old you will be paying lots of $$$'s (or ££££'s over here) but I was really knocked out recently when I tried a Martin 000-15s Mahogany. I was at a trade show in England when a friend told me to try this little gem. When I saw it I said I don't like Mahogany guitars but as soon as I played it I simply could not put it down. I bought the guitar after about an hour of strumming and plucking the little beauty and still can't put it down 4 months later. If, as I imagine, your dad bought the guitar originally because it played and sounded so great, why don't you simply do the same. You will never replace the same guitar so go for the reasons why it was bought in the first place, sound and quality. I payed £650.00 for it so I think it retails for around $1000.00 in the US Regards, Dave

: : : Jaterz, thanks for the info. I will try that website. I know I won't be able to replace, but hopefully I will come close. My pop is 83 now, and I didn't realize the family value. Trust me, I am sick about the situation! I have several pix of the guitar and plan to take them to a local music shop for better ID. When you say BIG $$$, are we talking $3,000 or so?????
