Tokai made convincing copies, but only from 78 onwards, they copied the headstock too.

humbecker pickups sound like strat?
i got a les paul model of a guitar...i dunno if it possible but my neck pickup sounds like a strat one....sorta hollow thingy...i dunno if its just my inexpericence....but could it be that...like...one of the series of the humbucker just stopped working and the other kept on going...or am i just a dumbass?

could be one of the coils has given up, you could try measuring the output of the bridge pickup against that of the neck? of try changing them over to see if you get a better sound.
ages of les paul studio
My son has a Les Paul studio guitar and the serial number is 93050303. Does anyone know where to find the age of the guitar by the serial number. I found the serial numbers for the regular les Paul, but not the studio version. Thank you.

still humming still nosie gibson nighthawk
I went ahead and shielded the whole guitar with copper tape and continuity tested the tape
to make sure I had a closed cercuit form pick up cavitiy to the eclectronics to the bridge. I also soldered a new wire through out to ground. But it is still humming. I got the instructions from guitarnut. What now?

I don't want to kill my sustain or my sustain when using pinch harmonics. Just want to kill unwanted hiss. Anyone know a good pedal?

a noise supressor is always going to suck the tone out of your guitar, have you thought of a better / different sustain pedal? do you use top qulity guitar cables?

I have found a little information on this site regarding Lyle Guitars, Mine is a model L-12. The guitar appears to be in very good to excellent condition, with some minor wear on the finish near the pick guard, and sounds fantastic. I have just begun to play guitar and would like to know if this is a good guitar? Is it actually worth anything?

Unauthorized guitar repairs
Would anyone know how I would go about suing a guitar shop? A repair technician for a local shop performed unauthorized modifications to my guitar that permanently altered the brand new instrument. The cost of restoring the instrument to 'near' original form is more than the cost of the guitar's new price.

Framus bass
I've acquired 2 old guitars and an old Danelectro amp. I can find lots of info on the '58 Gretsch 6120 but very little on the Framus bass or the amp. I would guess the Framus to be a 60's model since the Gretsch is a '58 but I can't find model or serial numbers to identify it better. It is solid red and I haven't found one like it.

The V-1585 was made around 1982 in Japan and imported by Kaman. I'd guess it's probably worth what other import Classicals of the era are worth. Check eBay's completed auctions for similar instruments. SB

i have just went to a guitar center and played the eric clapton 000-28b thing and it is unbelieveble but just as expensive.anyway i want to know how the standard compares to it in terms of sound

Looking for a very inexpensive but good SVT cab or V-6b (or something similar)
I am looking to buy a very inexpensive (hopefully less than $200) Ampeg cab. I was told to look for a V-6b with JBL speakers, or and SVT cab (maybe an 8X10 but i know that will be more). Let me know if you can help me out.
