Phantom guitarworks versus Vox
Submitted by Psychocandyboy on Mon, 10/24/2005 - 23:58.
Hi there, I'm new to this forum. I'm really into vintage Vox guitars, especially teardrops, but as these are quite rare to come by, I'm thinking of purchasing a teardrop hollowbody from phantom guitarworks. Anyone tried these guitars? I hear they are supposed to be really good quality guitars, some even say they surpass Vox. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, J
I can't help much, but I noticed FleebUK has a lefty BJ teardrop by Phantom. I could dig up the link if you're interested in watching its price.
Thanks, a lefty BJ Teardrop is not really what I'm looking for though, but if it's no trouble, I could take a look at it.
Cheers, J
Danged if I can find it now, not even on completed listings. I wonder if Fleeb pulled it? Anyway, I did spot this 12 which is actually not far from me.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOX-PHANTOM-12-GUITAR-ORIGINAL-WITH-HARD-CASE_W0QQitemZ7360308800QQcategoryZ106457QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Like some of the questioners, it looks like it's not exactly original to me - not that I'm an expert.
Psychocandyboy, check out also Brandoni guitars who have a selection of Phantoms and Teardrops: http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/index2.html
Some years ago they bought up all the old Eko stock from the factory in Italy, and this included Italian-made Vox guitar parts.
I've played a phantom...but not the vox. I'd compare the phantoms to a high end dan electro...the sound's okay and its comfortable to play.
Thanks guys! Excellent stuff.
Hey, if you do get one or the other, don't go sticking it head-first into the sand at the beach.
I've seen that Jesus and Mary Chain video.
