Hey there everyone, I’ve got a difficult item to research. I don’t know alot about it, but will try to answer any questions you have. I am looking to find out just about anything possible about it…
    Guild Burnside…more than 10yrs old…have pic.
Looking to see if there is more to the “model/type” or year…if I can even find that out. Here’s what I know:
Guild Burnside Acoustic Electric (don’t know if that was altered after market or not-originally acousitc ?) 6 str., oval hole w/cut out, older. Have pic of guitar, want to find this one if possible. Has: 1 hole for amp/plug-in, 1 or 2 dials near neck on body of guitar; forget their function and strap holders. Approx. 10yrs. since I’ve seen it, was not new then, don’t know age. I’m definately a guitar novice. Any help out there? Sorry if the terminology is corse. The pic is my profile pic.

I, too, have a Burnside by GUILD. Mine is a sunburst, arch top, semi-hollow body, with 2 Humbucker PU’s, and Volume, and Tone knobs with a 3 way switch. All hardware, from tuners to solid tailpiece, are black, and it has no pick guard. It has, what I suspect may be, an aftermarket push/pull volume pot that split coils the Humbuckers. It is similar in size to a Les Paul, but double cutaway and as I said a semi hollow body. Seems to be a 3/4 size Jazz style, but I can find NOTHING on this beautiful guitar.

Unlike the previous comment stated, they are not all solid body guitars, and in reality it seems the “by Guild’s” Burnside’s are a lot of JAZZ sized semi-hollow, or hollow body guitars.

Maybe this link will help you. It did me no good, but if you take the time to look at each guitar, you may find info you need/want: https://sites.google.com/site/musictoworshipby/my-by-guild-collection/more-info-on-by-guild/all-the-skinny-on-by-guild—burnside

Mine plays beautifully, with a great low action. I bought it at a guitar show in 1980 or so, unsure of the year. Seller was aking$495, but I bartered with him and got him to come down to $425. It had a hard shell case, but was actually for a 345 sized guitar, I believe. I have played it around the house, and onstage, in bands and in solo gigs too, for 30+ years and love it!

      Hi blondie,

I’m not sure what you have but I can tell you the Guild Burnside was a solid body guitar produced around 1987. It came in a two pickup (HA-1) and three pickup (SO-1) model. Good luck with your research. sb
