Chicago School of Guitar Making Adds New Classes

The Chicago School of Guitar Making has announced the addition of two new classes to their curriculum – a Fret Work Seminar and a Fretting Workshop. Along with these two courses, they will be offering another session of Guitar Setup and Maintenance. All of these courses begin in January 2006.

Guitar Setup and Maintenance Course

This course consists of 4 two-hour classes. Classes begin Saturday, January 7, 2006 and run through Saturday, January 28, 2006. Classes will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. This course is a must for any gigging musician or guitar enthusiast. The course will address all types of guitars (acoustic and electric) and basses. The Fret Work Seminar

This course consists of four 2-hour classes. Classes begin Thursday, January 5, 2006 and run through Thursday, January 26, 2006. Classes will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. The Fret Work Seminar will be a comprehensive presentation and demonstration of the techniques required to execute a professional quality re-fret on a guitar, bass, or other fretted instrument. The Fretting Workshop

This course consists of five 3-hour classes. Classes begin Tuesday, January 17, 2006 and run through Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Classes will be held from 6:30 - 9:30 PM. The Fretting Workshop covers the same topics discussed and demonstrated during the Fret Work Seminar but also includes hands-on shop time where students will re-fret an instrument under the assistance of the instructor. The School will provide each student with their own individual workstation and have tools available for use. The student can also purchase a personal set of rudimentary tools. Future plans for the school include the addition of a Guitar Building Workshop and an Amp Building Workshop.
