It goes without saying that Australia has produced the finest rock music in the last 50 odd years – with the UK tailing around 8th and of course NZ last. But which bands could claim to be in the top 3?

1. AC/DC
2. Cold Chisel
3. Easybeats

Wait.. where were Stevie, Barnesy and Bon Scott born.

Ok, dirty secret time…I was born in Salford, officially I’m a Manc! Moved to Yorkshire at 2 though so a’leest a tawk proper

I’m kind of dry on Australian bands now…Silverchair? They Australian?
I do have 1 disk of a 2 disk compilation entitled ‘Homegrown’ which has some great stuff on it but all kind of up and coming, plus someone stole the case with tracklisting and the other disk. So, that was a bit useless wasn’t it? 😳

Sorry about that Tim, and just as I thought we were “bonding” bass players. Hey, I’ve known all along you’re from Yorkshire and I’ve always remained pleasant to you 😆

I’m still working on who the 2nd best Australian upright bass player would be…
I’m not “from” the North, I was born in Kent. So South, in fact, that any further and I’d have fins. Or speak French.

Saul Hudson, OTOH, is indeed from Stoke-on-Trent where I lived for ten years. He’s also a matter of days older than me. Less than a week. Spooky 😯 Info garnered here: http://www.nndb.com/people/514/000024442/
That is one funny link, its like 20 years of tabloid, ok slash was dating Savannah the same year he married his first wife…then follow the Savannah link and look at some of the names in the Boyfriend/slept-with bit, it’s like a who’s-who of 80’s rock…and they’re all hyperlinked to more pornstars and hairy 80’s rockers.

Oh, and I now know you’re more Southern than my Surrey-born Fiancee, but I’ll continue to be civil don’t worry, for the sake of the forum you understand 😆

Yeah they are.

And I knew someone would have to bring up Rolf.

As for you Lee, Jason and Kylie are officially yours to contend with now.

I’ll happily give Russel Crowe back to NZ as well when it comes to music.
