I am of the (personal, unqualified, crackpot, choose your adjective) that there are many low-end guitars today that are every bit as good as the 50's, 60's, and 70's "vintage" guitars. To some extent it has to do with high-volume production line quality control, and to some extent it just has to do with experience. The guitar I carry in my truck is a First Act cheapie electric that I got for $11 on e-bay. I have a $100 Ibanez that I prefer to any Fender I've ever picked up.

Will they be any good in 30 years? Who cares?

Why anyone wants to spend hundreds on a Dano U2 made of hardboard beats me, when there are truely outstanding guitars knocking around for that money.

Danos do have a pretty unique sound.

So does a Hondo II.
