I bought a Marlin sidewinder and i customised it a bit (new magnets, tremolo and more) and it has a great Deep purple like sound. It cost me in total 480$ but i made a preety awesome guitar, i’v been told by several people that guitar of that quality would sell for 1000$ in a store. And i was wondering what experience do other people have with Marlin guitars, so do tell.

Dont know about todays Marlins, but… my friend John had one and it was a strat copy, made in Wales (no seriously it was) and made of plywood,
it was heavier than a stack of concrete blocks and had the 2nd duffest tone ive ever heard (1st place goes to a 1978 Colombus LP copy).

Im sure they are made in the far east now and are probably a better instrument.
But like bass says you are never going to acheive and ebay price of $480, let alone a $1000.

Munja (welcome), the honest truth is that no Marlin Sidewinder is going to sell for $480, never mind $1000. It doesn’t matter. If you have made that guitar into your own dream-axe then you don’t have to worry about what it is worth.

Just as well, though, because it really can’t be sold for that sort of money. What upgrades have you done?
