Acoustica, I don’t often click on clips (Mrs Bass and Bass Jr in bed) but I’m glad I did with yours. Played it twice, in fact. That’s a very nice piece of music. Tell me more about it if you have a moment.

Scott, Lee_UK should look in and answer your Q. That’s the great thing about bass playing – minimal worries about chords (whatever they are 😆 ).

I understand alternate tunings, but my question is about how chords are formed in the alternates-I mean do I have to get out a circle of eights chart and figure it out manually or is there a easy way to find and learn the changed chord shapes, are there charts or does anyone have a link for good resource?.Scott

I have a live DVD of The Faces, had look at the Angel song and it looks as if he is using standard tuning, on what looks like a Zematis guitar.
Although on the Recorded version it does sound like an open tuning.
So the Answer is, i havent got a clue, and until recently i dont think Ronnie contributed much to the Stones sound, he didnt move it on like …..

It is often interesting to look at tunings in terms of intervals (the relationship of one string to another) rather than chords or notes. For example Major tunings (Open G,D, or C) are all root 5th and 3rd. DADGAD is root 5th and 4th etc.
I’ve put a list of tunings on the Condie and Tolfrey website http://condieandtolfrey.webeden.co.uk on the Maurice’s news page. It is on an excel spreadsheet to download. It has the notes and the intervals (and a little arrow^ where notes are tuned above standard pitch).

I use BEADG, but that’s a boggo 5-string. Our guitarist uses some fairly standard variations but he had a very weird one for a song I called Dankdank (what it sounded like). All the strings were roughly, very roughly, around A#. It wasn’t as difficult to put a bass line around as I thought, and sounded like a poppy My Bloody Valentine
