Pedals and effects consoles for a budget beginner

Looking for opinions and help on pedals and effects

I just got my first electric rig, LP knockoff ,dual humbuckers, and a 30W H&K amp-asking for opinions on some budget pedals to consider for my first one? Any help out there on this subject? Thanks[/list]

pods are not effects in my opinion - they are amp/cab simulators which are good for the bedroom

i used the rack mount version in a studio and compared it back to back with various amps - it didn't record as well as the amps

there is just no substitute for moving air...

for your application with church for effects i.e. delay, wah, chorus, tremolo, flange etc you can do well with a multi-effects unit like a digitech S200 or boss GT-8

Pandora (Korg) PX4 is good for twiddling, very nice sounds through headphones, i think the POD is an amp sim too, ive never owned one,
but they seem OK.

But for twiddling at home go for the Line 6 Guitar port, i think the latest ver2.1 even makes the Tea.
