Repainted 1971 Les Paul Custom for $1000. Bad idea?

Would this be a bad idea? I know that repainting crushes a guitar's value. But I want a good player, and I know this is a great year for LP. ButI don't want to take a bath on it either. Comments?

What a crawler you are Bass

Au contraire, Lee. As "worst finish" thread has developed, I thought "Antigua" had taken a back-seat (even for Fender). Mustard mitt, though, the pic has given me the shivers again, glw. It's not "Bugs Bunny" bad, but I really couldn't do Antigua. As a lefty, I have an aversion to Black and Sunburst standard offerings myself but it still doesn't make me go whole-hog for Antigua, splat, or bowling ball. I'd rather fall in with the crowd, buy a sunburst, and express my individuality by wearing a fez.

At least I can change my mind about the fez. Is it just me and my 20 a day habit, but the Antigua really makes me think about life expectancy?

 Like the Fez idea, very good.
The thing with glw's antigua is, it is such a crying shame what they did to a perfectly great Jap Strat. It just does'nt look very rock'n'roll.

Looks like a badly exposed photograph-or a pic that been left in the sun---sorry guys but --YECH!!!!!!--hurts my eyes and makes my stomach twist.

That comment is bang on the money, it looks like Grannies old faded photos, yuck.
