Hi, fellow fan of the twang, I’m back with another!

I had a request for ‘The Entertainer’ at the forum, so I’ve whipped together a little finger style arrangement of something very much like it … from memory. I haven’t heard the real version for a long time now, so it will be approximate. I did in our favorite key: G. The key of G is so accommodating on guitar, isn’t it? All of the related chords have nice open string positions, as you’ve no doubt realized by now through these lessons.

That will be finished very soon–as soon as the tree loppers have done with the Macadamia tree that we’re having removed. The noise around here at the moement is deafening! When it is finished, you’ll find it at Guitar for Beginners and Beyond, along with a 100 or so others.

The forum at GfB&Beyond is now nearing the 11,000 mark. It sure is an active forum these days, and it’s a pleasure to listen to some of the members’ mp3s. There is no shortage of talent, that’s for sure. If you haven’t already, join up and join in!

The other very active forum is the PlaneTalkers Forum, which is where buyers of my book/dvd ‘PlaneTalk – The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book‘ hang out and discuss the simple technique which allows you to see your fretboard as a unit, as friendly familiar territory at all times, no matter what the music is doing. Not for beginners, this book teaches a mind set, a way of perceiving music and the fretboard that frees the player from worrying about scales, modes, boxes, grids … names of famous movie stars. It relies on something we all learned from day one, strangely enough. If you’re at the stage in your playing where you know all the basics, you have it all under control except the ability to improvise lines and parts, at will, all over the neck, then drop into the main site and read all about it. Read some testimonials here.

OK, time to get back to work. I loaded a new ‘slow blues in G’ slide track up at my Soundclick Site, I call it ‘Tropical Low’, appropriate for this time of the year. Check it out if you like slidey blues.

    Until next week,

    Kirk
