- Press Release

On April 6, internationally renowned pro skateboarder Danny Way smashed the "Bomb Drop" world record by freefalling 28 feet from the Fender Stratocaster guitar atop the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas onto a ramp below. The event, originally scheduled for April 5, was rescheduled due to inclement weather conditions.

A Bomb Drop is the term that is used for jumping off a structure on a skateboard and freefalling onto a landing. The fall is measured from the point of the take off to point of touch down.

Thousands of spectators watched Way execute the drop off the guitar onto a ramp built by John Tyson and his team at VP Industries. The guitar, originally estimated at 66 feet tall, stands 12 feet higher than original estimates at 78'.

The Bomb Drop event was created by Way and Ignition to launch their mobile phone content company specializing in action sports.
