Barry Finnerty's Serious Jazz Practice Book Released

- Press Release

Guitar legend Barry Finnerty's new book, "The Serious Jazz Practice Book", published by Sher Music Co., provides jazz players with a unique and comprehensive plan for mastering their instrument. Barry takes all the diatonic, pentatonic, chromatic, whole tone and diminished scales and gives you step-by-step exercises that dissect them into hundreds of usable patterns. Many of the exercises are embellished with chromatic notes, giving you that jazz flavor right away. The end result is a method book that will lead the reader to a deep, internalized understanding of the fundamentals of jazz.

Barry played and recorded with Miles Davis, the Brecker Bros. and the Crusaders in the 70's and 80's, and shared the stage with such jazz greats as Hubert Laws, Ray Barretto, Airto, Joe Farrell, and many others.

"The Serious Jazz Practice Book" is available from Sher Music Co., 800/444-7437. 162 pages + CD. $30 list price. See for more details.
