| Does anybody know what can cause an Amp to loose sound out of nowhere? It still has power going to it, but when I try to play it cuts out and does not regain sound. Id really appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks |

| Some obvious ones-bad cable from guitar, bad cable sockets at one end or the other, bad volume or gain pots on either guitar or amp, a failing component in the amp, possibly the preamp section, faulty wire to amps speaker . Question does turning it off for a while make it work again for a time? |

| JC86, can you tell us the make and model of your amp? It would help me narrow things down. Scott (above) has pointed out the obvious cable checks. If that's not it, then I suspect amp internals but I need to know the details to thunk a bit more. |

| The amp is a Fender Champion 30 and the type is PR 404 as far as I know it just lost sound one day and has never regained any sound what so ever. before it would loose sound and I would shut it off for a couple of hours and sometimes a day or two and it would regain sound but after a while it would loose sound again, I have no clue on what it could be. |

| Check the fuse holder housing, i have a Hiwatt which would heat up and cause the insulating tape (that somebody had thought was a good repair 20 years ago) around the fuse holder housing to come off, look al over your amp for silly things like this, you often find its something stupid. |

Drats. I'm not on familiar territory with SS amps. Have a look at the reviews on HC (http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data/Fender/Champion_30-01.html) and see if anything is familiar.
I have to say, I have heard of plenty of instances where cheap, direct-to-board input jacks have caused problems. It's a stupid idea; putting tugged-to-death components on the PCB, but it crops up a fair bit on modern amps. If this is the problem, it's not all that difficult to fix but does require some solder knowledge. |

| I've checked just about everything on the amp, the fuse holder is fine so are all the other components and I still dont know why its not getting any sound to it. I have a friend that repairs old guitars and amps and she is going to take it and see if she can figure out what is wrong with it. Thanks for all your help I really appreciate it. |

| You're more than welcome. Please do come back and let us know the solution. My bet is on the input jack coming away from the PCB, but I haven't placed money on it. |
