I have a Hofner that was purchased in the mid 80’s in Germany. The instrument says its a Hofner in the body, and inside it has a label that says made by Hofner Anno. The instrument my parents purchased for my brother to learn but instead it was carried around with our family until my parents settled in the 90’s here in the States. Its been in the attic hidden until I was deployed to Iraq. I found it and decided to bring it with me so I could teach myself how to play. Its in almost Mint condition… small mark on the body but no cracks or dings anywhere. It is the guitar that started me playing and I dont’ plan on getting rid of it. I just don’t have any idea of its value (other than personal) or its model number. Does anyone know anything about the Hofner Acoustic guitars that could give me some more information? My buddy seemed upset and offended when he saw me bringing it on the deployment. He suggested buying something for 00 and carrying it along instead. He said the guitar was valuable. I was to stubborn and brought it with me anyway. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matthew

Matthew, try a look through my mate Steve Russell’s site:
      http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/

I only help Steve out on the amps side, so I don’t know whether his Hofner Guitars section will help you or not. If you don’t find the info, come back here and I’ll ask Steve to look up some more details for you. He’s pretty all-knowing on Hofners.
