We all have our favourite guitar players, and we all like them for different reasons. But, what about the ones, in your own opinion, don't deserve the adulation and hero worship that goes hand in hand with being famous.
I don't want this to turn into a huge "flaming" session, but here's my 2 cents: The Edge. Yes, he does have an instantly recognisable sound, but blimey, you'd think he'd have developed a bit more over the years
Weller? Great rhythm player, no question.
But a great songwriter? Meh....
Plagirist of the first order.
True, there's nothing new under the sun, especially in the world of rock 'n' roll but Start: The Jam
Taxman: The Beatles.
The prosecution rests m'lud.
And Changing man sounds like an ELO tune, and Dear prudence, but there was another 200+ songs he has written, i cant link many of those to other songs.
Start was just a bassline, the melody and arrangment was different.
And lyricaly the man is a poet.
Broken Stones. Splendid.
Wild wood
Thats Entertainment
Town called Malice
Down in the Tubestation at midnight

The Bitterest Pill will always be my fav. Even the video is a winner.
Thats not one of my favs Mike, i dont like Beat Surrender either, Dont like a lot of the style council stuff, very left wing Billy Bragg support the miners influence, But he does have one of the best drummers around.

What am I on about?
As I'm in the mood for getting flamed has Clapton ever done anything Hendrix couldn't P*** on in his sleep...other than staying alive long enough to go out of fashion?
Oooh, good one! I don't think anybody could disagree with that.
I won't flame you, Tim. I'm not a Clapton fan.
