    – Press Release

BackLine Engineering has announced a new firmware update to FX-Tracker, the first effects unit in the industry that allows
guitar players to control their sound by changes in their playing style. FX-Tracker utilizes the note
recognition technology developed for the successful RiffBox looping device while incorporating
many of the effects popular with musicians today. This allows you to tailor your own unique sound
beyond what can be created using standard effects devices.

FX-Tracker now includes 87 effects in the categories of Delay, Chorus, Tremolo, Flanger, Filter,
Pitch Shifter and MIDI output. With most of these effects, you can control timing or intensity of the
effect by changing your playing speed or your playing volume. The firmware update includes a
new reverse delay effect, which plays the audio backwards each time you play a note back to the
previous note that you played. In addition, the firmware update includes 17 new MIDI output
effects that allow you to control almost any parameter within the many MIDI capable effects units
that are on the market today. It does this by sending MIDI CC output messages in one of the
    formats listed below.

    · MIDI output value that matches your playing speed or volume
    · Sine MIDI output waveform with a fixed period
    · Triangle MIDI output waveform with a fixed period
    · Square MIDI output waveform with a fixed period
    · Sine MIDI output waveform with a period that depends on your playing speed
    · Triangle MIDI output waveform with a period that depends on your playing speed
    · Square MIDI output waveform with a period that depends on your playing speed
    · Triggered triangle MIDI envelope with a length that depends on your playing speed
    · Triggered exponential MIDI envelope with a length that depends on your playing speed
    · Triggered ramp MIDI envelope with a length that depends on your playing speed
    · Triggered triangle MIDI envelope with static length
    · Triggered exponential MIDI envelope with static length
    · Triggered ramp MIDI envelope with static length
    · Arpeggiator MIDI output with a fixed period
    · Arpeggiator MIDI output with a fixed period that ramps to the next value
    · Triggered arpeggiator MIDI output
    · Triggered arpeggiator MIDI output that ramps to the next value

You can set the MIDI CC number along with the maximum and minimum CC value for each of
these effects. Imagine controlling the drive parameter of an amp model based on you playing, or
switching amp models or effect types with each note that you play. With FX-Tracker, guitarists
and other artists can set themselves apart by creating unique sounds that have never been heard
before. You can check out some of the demo tracks at http://www.backline-eng.com . The retail price is
    99.00 with a street price of 19.00.
