I bought (at a used book store) a really excellent book about all the instruments the Beatles played, from their very first dime-store and pawn shop instruments till well past their breakup. Fascinating history. I eventually sold it on e-bay, and I’ve never seen another.

http://www.guitargeek.com/ should be a good start not sure how much older stuff on there but a quick glance came up with a few names (Hendrix, Fripp, Clapton…)
