    – Press Release

On October 15, 2006, the world’s first “Girl Guitar,” created by Tish Ciravolo, President and Founder of Daisy Rock Guitars, is scheduled for induction into the Museum of Making Music located at the NAMM Headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

This yellow, daisy-shaped guitar (signed by Courtney Love) was the very first instrument manufactured by Daisy Rock Guitars, the original girl-guitar company. Tish believed that the cumbersome, overweight, generic-looking guitars saturating the market prior to Daisy Rock were stopping many girls from becoming guitarists and bassists. By altering traditional guitar and bass designs to make slimmer, lighter instruments featuring unique, eye-catching designs, Daisy Rock was the first guitar manufacturer to make guitars and basses for a completely neglected group – women. The company was embraced by girls of all ages, and has doubled in size each year since its inception in 2000. The number of girl guitarists has also doubled since the company first started, going from 5% of the total guitar market share in 2000 (where it had hovered throughout the entire 20th Century) to an all time high of 10% in 2006, with all signs indicating continued growth for years to come.

The induction of the world’s first girl guitar into the Museum’s collection of musical innovations is a very special honor for Daisy Rock Guitars. It acknowledges Tish’s success as a designer of a completely new line of instruments. It also signifies a turning point for the guitar industry, marking the moment when female guitarists and bassists were embraced by the industry for the first time – the day Tish Ciravolo launched Daisy Rock Guitars.

Daisy Rock Guitars and the Museum of Making Music are inviting people of all ages to participate in a daylong celebration scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2006. All proceeds will benefit the San Diego Affiliate of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This exciting event will be hosted by Museum of Making Music, located at the NAMM Industry Headquarters at 5790 Armada Drive in Carlsbad, California.
