Hey, im trying to get a real killer distortion sound, real mean sounding but also neat and clean at the same time like metallica but more evil sounding. I have a gib LP classic with 490 and 500t pick ups, a marshall avt 50 and an equilizer. Thinkn bout gettin emg81 85’s but i dont want to lose the gibson tone either. right now things sound a little to round and not enough chunk.

Where is Bri these days? Did Lee resolve his “can I plug an external speaker into the socket labelled ‘ext spkr’ on my pink amp?” Q to his satisfaction 😛 ?

Seriously, I have my own Q. Transistor (Si) OD pedals tend to lose my bass and turn it into a quasi-rhythm guitar. Also, they’re badly affected by changes in input volume. From my exp of the V-Twin and (better still) Matchless Dirtbox, the 12AX7 based boxes don’t suffer this.

Do any proper guitarists also experience this, or is it just me? I have tried bass-specific FX of course, but it’s always the same “bass disappears” problem. Anybody else with an op on their instrument?
Dont listen to Lee he’s a FAG. Go with the Digitech Metal Master, Kirk uses that if your looking for metallica. Ive never had a better distortion pedal than that.
Kirk does not use the Metal Master.
would u suggest running that through the clean channel and not usin teh marshall distortion? or use it as a boost on the distortion channel. I dont want to lose the marshall tone by using solely pedals for by dirty sounds. thanks for the reply
i would suggest you run it through the clean channel, it will get a bit muddy through your OD channel, nice to see you use a Marshall amp, and not one of those GAY Fender M-80’s with the chorus of course.
There are lots of different pedals to try but i dont think you can go wrong with the Boss stuff, especialy there distortions.
If anybody knows of any paper rounds going then could you please e-mail crazybri311, i know he saving up for a real amp.

Sounds like you need to try a Boss MT-2 (Metalzone) it gives a fat metal sound, thrash and even lightens up enough for a classic rock tone, it has a 3 band EQ, with dual gain circuit.
