Hi everyone. Sorry for being such a guitar newbie, but I really need help with this, so bear with me. I recently acquired a Squier Stratocaster, and have been playing for a few weeks with no problems. This is until I tried unscrewing my whammy bar yesterday, so I could transport my guitar. The thing was, that the bar seemed very “tight”, and after some vigorous unscrewing, the bar broke off right at the thread, which is now stuck in the guitar. Has anyone had a similar experience, or knows how to get the thread out of the guitar? I would take it down to my local music store, but I can’t really afford to pay the costly repair charges. Can anyone help me out here…please?

    Thanks in advance.

take the strings off, unscrew the 9 screws holding the bridge on, then get some pliers on the back of the broken peice of trem bar and grip tightly and turn, if it wont come out, get a file and file exposed broken trem peice so that you have 2 flat edges, then see if you can get some grips on it, if all this fails you can get replacement parts from allparts.com they dont cost a lot, just make sure you get the same fitting one, there are lots of variations out there.
      Good luck.
