The closest vocal style I could think of was Willy Mason’s Oxygen. See if you can listen to a clip and you might get what I mean. That song is also “tongue in cheek” and clever. I agree with Lee; the drum sound is a bit but I can put up with that on a demo.
I’ll listen to Willy Mason’s songs.

I kept the best drum sounds for the……best all-time sailor song!!! 😀

Thank you very much my friends for your comments.

1bassleft :oh yes,i took a while!! I first recorded that music 12 years ago, and a friend of mine wrote the lyrics last year on march.

Lee_UK : i agree with you about the drums. In fact i used my very old Roland Pma5 as a drum kit player. The drum patterns that feature in the 2006 programms are much more realistics!

Very nice, sounds quite Lou Reedy, on the vocal side.
The accoustic sounded good and the bass matched, i didnt like the drum sound much, but a very catchy number.

Risked waking the wife 😉 . With the title, and that “nice” guitar, I wasn’t hoping for much but I liked it way more than usual forum uploads. I like quirky, humorous songs and the vocal melody and metre are both very clever. I don’t mind the cheap bass at all – it reminds me of low-output basses you’d hear a lot in the mid-late 60s pop recordings – it fits what the song’s trying to do. Honestly, it’s a very clever package; did you take a while to get it how you wanted or did it more or less come out in one go?
