IK Multimedia has announced AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix Edition, what they call the first authentic software recreation of the complete guitar amp and effects rig of Jimi Hendrix.

According to their press release, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix Edition is a cooperative effort between Authentic Hendrix, the official Jimi Hendrix foundation, and IK Multimedia. As the first guitar amp and effects modeling software focusing on Jimi Hendrix, this product can be used to recreate the authentic tones of popular Hendrix tunes. Now anyone can plug their electric guitar into their computer and have access to a complete emulation of the same guitar amp and effects setup that created the unique Hendrix sound.

The software includes models of extremely rare, collectible vintage stomp boxes, amp heads and cabinets, putting the sound of highly expensive and hard to find gear at your fingertips. IK has gone the extra mile in accurately modeling the most important components of the Hendrix rig by not only using proprietary DSM(TM) (Dynamic Saturation Technology), but by collecting all the original vintage stomps, amplifiers and cabinets of the
same period and fine tuning the software emulations by ear with accurate craftsmanship to achieve incredibly realistic modeling results.

Compatible with both Mac and PC platforms and the most popular recording programs, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix Edition will be available from IK Multimedia and its network of dealers and distributors within the first quarter of 2007.

AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix Edition will be available both as software only and as a bundled package of software with a guitar-to-USB cable interface allowing easy and direct connection to any computer.
