The single coil SA pickups that David Gilmour used. Can anyone tell me their advantages and disadvantages? And would you recommend them with an ash bodied strat?

My EMG's on my Tele are truly ultra silent, which was my main reason for changing. I only play at home in my studio and the noise levels were just unacceptable with the Fender Texmex passives (also replacements for the originals). Now I can play Guitar Rig's noisiest amps with, er, no noise. I'm a happy bunny.

The biggest surprise for me about the EMG's is how well the tone pot works. It was basically useless before.

I'm no fan of Fender hardware apart from neck and body.
