Geez, Lee, you're like a spastic tourettes kid with a bunch of pixie sticks! You came close with one of your guesses, but I'm not saying which one. Ok, here ya go:
CLUE #2:
Their immediate follow-ups to their first hit were met with major success in their country, but with little success elsewhere. Remember when I told you you know them by their later, more popular name? Well, that popular name became permanant in 196_ when the person for whom the band was originally named for left the band shortly after their new keyboardist and lead vocalist arrived (sorry, can't give away the year yet).
Let's see how you do on this one. I might need to give another clue. |

Johnny Sandon and the Searchers, Johnny left in 62' but the band carried on playing the Cavern under the name The Searchers, they had major success in UK (Motherland) and some good success in US (Disneyland).

Sorry, Lee. Wrong again. Here's the next clue, this should do it:
CLUE #3:
This new keyboardist and the group's guitatrist became the bands main composers until lifestyle differences led the guitarist to leave the group during their unfinished 197_ album, and he subsequently formed another band, which eventually evolved into a supergroup (which I can't name). |

That last one sounded like a stab in the dark Mike, and Justins band has been named, it was in my onslaught of who's who at the cavern top 50 list.
