I receive an acoustic guitar as a gift several years back. It was not new (I believe it was regifted), anyway the brand says Chicago. The only label anywhere is inside & it says Chicgo made in Korea. Model number FG-8030. I cannot seem to find anything about this brand anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Did you buy the guitar in America? CMI (Chicago Musical Instruments) was a large conglomerate that owned Gibson. In the 1990s, they were having electrics made in Korea with a CMI logo on the headstock. For an acoustic, they may have thought “Chicago” sounded more classy. Just a semi-ed guess.

Not heard of it, a lot of large retail outlets used to import a number of guitars and badge them up when they got delivery of them, it happens a lot today, especially the Chinese made guitars, maybe this happened to yours?
Thats not to say you have a bad guitar, a lot of the Korean guitars are excellent and you may find one factory making loads of different branded guitars.
