I figured the 2nd quote might be Garcia (mostly because I’m not over-familiar with G-D) but, 😆 , you threw me for a minute on the first quote.

The idea that Bill Graham would take time out of evangelical God-bothering in order to eulogise the band struck me as weird. Then I realized; Bill Graham the promoter (who handled the Philadelphia side of Live Aid, IIRC) – not Billy Graham 😳

      You, sir, are correct.

And the quotes came from a.) Bill Graham, and b.) Jerry Garcia (the phonebook quote…a great quote, btw)

Something to do with “change a lightbulb” gags, but Grateful Dead is ringing a bell. Even so, I have no idea who said what, even if I am right about the band.

Nope, try again. This band started in the 60’s however, under the name “The Warlocks”

It’s not LAND, (thats my band) and we are the greatest band in the world.

I think you’re close, Lee 😯 . But they were quite simply they greatest band in the world (IMHO, of course).

That’s bugging me, now, Shake. It’s a 70s band, I’m sure, but I shall have to sleep on it.
Yeah, “Pardon?” was the next line, tsk.

I take it you are not a Saxondalette? Steve Coogan character, excellent comedy program.
That was excellent comedy all by itself. Who was playing the straight man? 😆

Indeed it is, in which the line “Pardon?” followed the line “90% of the information on the Internet is wrong”…but I think the moment has passed now, move along… 😆

Grammar has no business on the Internet.

Actually I just did some Hootie Youtubing and he was pretty catchy… for a 90s soft cock.

Too self-deprecating to be Clapton, surely? Gilmour takes and makes a joke about himself (such as “thank God Money switched to 4/4 so that I could actually play lead over it”) but it’s not him. More of a folky-rocky player.

Got to be Clapton or Gilmour, they are always banging on about the futileness of Speed Shredding and technique.

’tis true, Lee; a well-known Grouchoism, like “that’s no lady, that’s my wife” and “I wouldn’t join any club that would have me as a member”. I wonder when Groucho did the quote? Bit risque for the time they were in films I’d’ve thought.

Anyhoo, is that a new challenge, Mike? I suggest “Sharon Osbourne” 🙂
