I’ve just been called in to look over a friend’s son’s combo that has died. It’s one of those little Yam things that come in starter packs. I suspect the on-off switch and will try to replace that. If not, it just isn’t worth futher repair attempts.

If it is dead, I said I’d investigate a replacement and brand-new is likely. Ca £50, huge watts NOT a requirement ( can be 5W or even less) but a CD input has been deemed desirable, and smallish size. I’d appreciate any suggestions and, better still, your own “played one” opinions. Thanks.

I had Backstage as a possible, along with the Carlsbro Kickstart. Both can be had around the £50 mark. I have no experience of either combo so any ops (on these or others) would be appreciated.

A Peavey Backstage? A Micro-Cube? You need to go higher than 50 surely.
