Guys/and girls. I need a 2nd acoustic with electrics. Got a 92 Gibson Starburst which I love, but want a richer fuller tone. Got more money than sense, nut I love quality guitars esp older. Got my 335's and Esquires, but now I'm just an old singalong busking acoustic old boy who wants to keep singing. I appreciate quality and individuality ( unlike my guitar playing!). So what do I go for? A Koa Taylor? A Collings or a Lowden? I want a guitar that will increase in value( though not to sell) and that is not a "standard production model" I know all about vintage electrics and what to find, but not acoustic. I need some direction, without being 'sold" current inventory.
My friend said ( although he does have 2 in his shop) Lowden is the one I should go for. HELP

Crikey, Taz.

Taylor, Martin, Lowden - I don't think anyone can suggest "get one of these" (least of all me) and be sure it'll suit you. You know a good guitar so I think you need to try the Lowden and then move onto another store and try other high-enders. The money you look to spend, no-one should push you into opening your wallet straight away.

As far as holding value, or even appreciating with years, the three brands mentioned tend to do that. Perhaps you might want to PM "Acoustica1" in case he hasn't looked in lately. He's probably the most accomplished soundhole-spanker on this forum.

Houston, The Eagle (or should i say Hummingbird) has landed...

There is nothing that can touch this, looks, playabilty, workmanship, tone, style. Ive had one for 5 years and i have played nothing better.
