I am a thirteen year old that likes classic rock, and i am having trouble deciding what pedal to get. I’ve narrowed my selection down to two and they are an envelope filter or a danelectro reel echo pedal. I don’t know what to get so i thought i’d ask some people that are experienced and willing to help.
So pleeeeease give me some advice.

okay i’m going to: go to guitarcenter and try out the differnt pedals, look at the differnet prices, look at the pedal i want’s price (problably multi effects) and if the price is >60$ i’ll buy it off e bay or creig’s list or somthing

Basically yeah, but that’s just my op…search my posts on Gsite…I never buy new musical instruments (instantly devalue and you have to break them in…2nd hand: Hold their value and already broken in…)
I don’t really see pedals as that much different a new one costs a lot…second hand they kinda plateau, would you ask exactly how many owners a 2nd pedal had had? Or would you just pay the going rate…?
I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the Digitech Multieffects pedal, it has thousands (slight exaggeration) of sounds you would find useful.
Give it a go, try it out in the store and then have a look at ebay for a used one.
Yeah, agree with both these points, I used a multi to decide what actual stand-alone pedals I wanted then slowly started aquiring them as and when…bringing me neatly to the second point: All my effects are from pawn shops or (if I’m feeling extravagant!) second hand guitar shops (read, ebay, when I get round to sorting my Paypal)…makes getting your money back for any that you don’t click with a whole load easier.

yes, but aren’t those big bucks? Maybe i’ll go to guitarcenter or sumthin and look at some stuff there. Do you know anything that would give me a kind of harmonic fuzz sound?

150$ ???? i’ll probably be able to afford that. I’ll try it out at guitarcenter later today. i’ll also try a cry baby distortion-pedal. so far the help kevin raise for a foot pedal fund is not looking so good.

I advised one of my guitar students to get one of these Digitech multi-effects units, and she’s very happy with it. It gives you a variety of programmable, adjustable effects for a decent price. I wouldn’t take it into the studio or on a world tour, but for a guitarist who’s just starting out, it’s a pretty good deal, and the effects don’t sound half bad.

I was going to suggest what your tutor suggested, a cry baby wah, problem with auto-wah is you have no control over a very intrusive effect, once it’s on you know it’s on, with a wah you can do so much more and have ultimate control.
Ive used Auto-wah and a few different wahs, and i always go back to the cry baby.
If you want a modulating sound have you thought about a phaser? a light phaser sound over an overdriven amp is quite nice.

Why not try a multi-effects first? find out what really works for you and then invest in a single pedal?

yeah, auto wah and although i’ve been playing for two years i (sadly) don’t own any pedals, i just use my amp for effects (but i have to turn a switch) My guitar teacher suggested just a simple cry baby distortion foot switch but i think i want a more unique sound. And if you have any suggestions for a pedal that has a sort of british spank to it tell me. but please, something i can afford

What sound are you trying to get? what pedals do you already have?
When you say ‘Envelope filter’ do you mean an Auto-Wah kind of sound?
