1976 Alvarez DY74 – This instrument looks like it has never been out of the case, although I’ve watched my father play it my whole life. NO DAMAGE! Can anyone tell me what it’s worth? It has now been passed down to my son.

      DY 74 WELLINGTON
      – dreadnought style, solid spruce top, round soundhole, 5-stripe bound body and rosette, tortoise pickguard, rosewood back/sides, mahogany neck, 14/20-fret ebony fingerboard with varying pearl inlay, ebony bridge with white pearl dot pins, rosewood veneer on peghead, 3-per-side chrome tuners, available in Natural gloss finish, mfg. circa 1975-1998.
      Excellent Average
      $525 – 600 $350 – 425

The above info is from the Acoustic Bluebook, however if yours is a 1976 model, it may be worth a little more since the veneer on the headstock was Jacaranda instead of Rosewood.

There are a couple listed here, http://www.austinvintageguitars.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page35.html at $795 each so cottonwolf’s ballpark for a private sale sounds about right, probably at the top end.

can’t find any info on DY74
DY70 and DY71 are bluebooked at 500-575 in excellent condition and 350-400 in average condition. Hope that helps.
