Hey all,

I can't seem to remove the tremolo arm from my American 62' reissue Jazzmaster. I can't remember how the arm was installed -- whether it was 'snap-in' or 'threaded'.

I've tried pulling and rotating the arm counter-clockwise, but it seems stuck in there pretty good. Also, when I rotate the arm it makes a bit of a high pitched squeak as it turns.

I'm wondering if there's another way of removing the arm safely?

Also, if anyone knows if the arms are threaded or snap-in, I suppose that would point in the right direction.

Thanks

Looks snap-in according to this exploded diag:

and I dare say you'll find this site interesting reading. Maybe the tremlock is on?:

Hope some of this helps. My previous band's guitarist played a JapMaster, but that's the limit of my experience with them.
