Ok, so last Christmas I bought my boyfriend a guitar.
I want to buy him some strings because they broke…
All I can remember is that it says “Kingston” on the guitar
    It has silver strings
    And that it’s black..
I don’t know what strings to get it.
    Help 😥

Well… wimpy? Umm… I put them on my little Fender Starcaster… which is only available at Sam’s Club! So wimpy describes the guitar itself, but It has been my favorite pick up and play guitar, and those strings are really comfortable on the fingers. I’ve had them on since October and they are still brand new looking and feeling. I’ve only had one problemo cuz I might have over stretched the strings so tuned to standard E the strings tend to pull when strumming and not just… i don’t know… twang?!?!? off the pick. Is it even possible to over stretch?

Man, those are .08s – don’t they make your gui-tar sound wimpy and tinny? Don’t they break easily??

I recently encouraged our singer / rhythm player to switch from 9s to 11s on his Telecaster, and his sound improved greatly – much more full and musical. Just curious… 😉

      😆 I’ll have a Jameson

I only use the .73 Dunlop Nylons on my bass 😯

All the gui-tars in my pile of stratocasters are all strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .10’s. 😀

My picks are Dunlop Nylon Standards of 1mm in thickness. 😯

I use natural hemp guitar straps exclusively. 😯 😯

I also endorse Seymour Duncan Hotrail Pickups (8)), and the hole in the middle of my body likes to be filled with Mickey’s Malt Liquor. 😈

It’s your definition of an acoustic guitar that kills me.

I searched Kingston on musiciansfriend and all it came up with were bass guitars… high end ones. If it is a bass, this isn’t the section to post it on cuz I believe thier is a bass section on this website. I also don’t play bass so I’m not of much help thier….. BUT if it is an acoustic(an acoustic is a guitar with a hole in the midle of its body), there are two kinds of acoustics that take different strings… nylon/classical with (shockingly) nylon strings and steel string with (again; shockingly) steel strings. A Nylon/Classical is easily spotted because of the hear (the top part) has semi-square holes in it with normally white bars running across them. If it’s that kinda guitar then I’d recomend D’Addario EJ45 Classic Normal Strings… you can get them here
      http//accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/DAddario-EJ45-ProArte-Classic-Normal-Classical-Strings?sku=100307

IF it’s a steel string acoustic (solid head) then I’d recomend D’Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze medium acosutic strings. You can find them here
      http//accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/DAddario-EJ17-Phosphor-Bronze-Medium-Acoustic-Strings?sku=100183

If it’s an electric guitar (totally solid or with F holes toward the side on the front of the body) I TOTALLY recomend Dean Markley Yngwie Malmsteen Ball End Super Light Electric Guitar Strings. These can be found here
      http//accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Dean-Markley-Yngwies-Ball-End-Nickel-Steel-Super-Light-846?sku=101087

      Hope that helps!!! )

Is it an electric guitar or an acoustic?

If it’s acoustic are the strings nylon or steel? (Even a nylon set will have 3 strings wound with wire, so don’t say “some are metal, some are nylon”).
