Warning about TTM Guitars

This is a word of warning for anyone considering dealing with TTM Guitars, based in California.

Over 6 months ago I contacted them about a custom order. The details were agreed and I was invoiced for $425 which I paid up front (in hindsight this was pretty stupid). I also sent some parts to be included in the build including a schaller trem and pickups worth $250.

I was promised it would be completed in a month, but heard nothing in that time. A few more months passed and I was given excuse after excuse why the guitar wasn't completed by 'different' people. In every email they would say "we need three more weeks to complete but it will be worth the wait".

The only communication I had with them was when I sent emails and phone calls where I had to initially pretend to be somebody else just to get through. Eventually I received an email from 'TTM customer services' saying there was a 3 month back order and I could either wait or have a refund.

I contacted them saying I wanted a refund and my parts back. A month passed - nothing. Another month passed - nothing. To cut a long story short I only managed to get the parts back and my money refunded because I reported it to the police and threatened legal action.

So my advice is do not deal with TTM Guitars. They are an incompetent bunch of fools. They don't care about the customer, just the money. The owner Lance is a complete liar and little more than a crook.

If you do a bit of research (which I should have done beforehand) then you'll find many other people that have had the same experience as me. TTM are efficient and friendly until they get your money, then it all changes.

I heard some stories similar to yours, I bought a TTM Slayer from the Australian Distributor, I got it real cheap cause they just wanted to get out of them cause they had been shafted by TTM apparently. The guy told me they had paid for a Mark Kendall when they first came out, and never got it, paid the money up front and never saw a thing, pretty bad when they screw their own distributors over.

Are the TTM's supposedly made in California, USA still made in China? I have referrals stating that some if not all TTM guitars are primarily made in China. Please contact me for more information. Not sure what is going on now with the company, but my guitar I purchased from the company was almost 100 percent made in China, per my contacts, and another source. Im very upset about this, and should all owners of TTM guitars. From what Ive been told, this guitar company has been screwing people, sayimng made in the USA, but actually mostly made in CHINA. BUYER BEWARE

It just blows my mind ,how far this guy will go to shoot down TTM guitars. Let me tell you something, these guitars are 100 percent USA made and with quality we could only wish Fender would go back to. The company is back logged because the orders cant be filled fast enough. Each individual guitar gets the attention any excellent guitar garners. They are to busy trying to please the customer to defend themselves. I only hope that all of you can see through the B.S and go out and buy one of these amazing guitars. These guitars are well worth $700 to $1500 price tag that ey are sold for, easy. They definitely gives the big boys a run for their money which might be the reason for this nonsense bashing. The workmanship is amazing or why would Great whites guitarist play them? Think about that one. If he can afford any guitar then why would he play a TTM?

..............................................................................................................They are made in the good ol USA You should go out and by one. Buy American! If you don't know the facts don't guess at them. What source exactly? You don't have anymore access to sources unknown anymore than I do. Stop talking bad about a great guitar.

BS!!!! You can go and check some guitar factories on www.alibaba.com and www.aliexpress.com. That is Chinese site for all kinds of Chinese factories. You can find couple places TTM guitar as their reference. So Lance stop pretending to be a "customer" and stop writing BS here.

And Lance no, these are not copies of your "great" guitars. They are originals. I contacted the factory myself and asked how it is.

www.aliexpress.com/products/ttm-guitars.html

ps. I had one, was the WORST guitar I have ever seen.

I know the Chinese sights well, and I have considered buying one because I believe you don't have to live in America to build a good guitar. The Gibson s and Fender prices are through the roof yet MiMs And Epiphone are building better guitars with better options. I own a TTM and I love it. It craps all over an American Strat. This guitar is solid , beautiful and plays awesome. I have a feeling all these crappy reviews is from one dumb a** trying to get back at the company because he got his pu$$y hurt. You are probably that guy. You are ruining the value of a great guitar with your bullshit. I have real money invested in this guitar and I don't appreciate you devaluing it with bad reviews. I Have seen any and all types of Guitars on Ali Express but it proves absolutely nothing. I guess if the Chinese copy it then that immediately puts you in cahoots with them. Nonsense!

Oh yeah and I am not Lance. I am a pissed off Texan that is tired of hearing the bull. Like I said before, I have real money invested in this guitar. Who did you talk to exactly? I find that these Chinese people that correspond for the sights cant even build a sentence that looks like they truly understand you. I doubt you called China and found the only Chinese guy that was schooled in the U.S and now answers phone calls for them.

Lance, stop writing BS. There is not one, but about all guitars you sold, their owners has written truthful reviews. You know as you have seen them. This is my first time I ever write from TTM anything. BTW, you can spot a Chinese ones easy. Floyd anchors has these round almost ball like tops. No other country uses those crappy floyd's and anchors. All TTM's has those. Show me a USA guitar which has those anchors. And don't say TTM, they are Chinese.

Oh and, have anyone seen a photo of TTM "shop"??? NO.

Here is how I envision your conversation went..... Hello?
(response)Herro! how can I help yu sa?
Yes, can you tell me if you build TTM guitars?
(response) Ya! ya! I buid wateva yu wan. Gidson , Fenda, P.Ah.S, what eva you like. You orda hea, we ar fatory, verry cheep.
Yes Sir but i want to know if you build the guitars for Lance of TTM guitars? (response) Ya ya wateva you want Lance , Billy,Jon All names wateva you wan you orda heah, very cheep
.......This is your proof. Ha ha

Floyd anchors? That is all you got? Tell me this. How many Fender Stratocasters besides the Japanese ones have a tremolo that even works well? It is the single greatest disaster of a design. No one uses those tremolos. I always block them off or add two springs to keep them from moving. I remove the bar so I don't get tempted to use it. Consequently many Fender Strats are sold with out them, because they get lost. However, it doesn't stop the Fender Strat hype train does it?
