Which Gibson with unlimited budget??

A ska band (ReelBigFish) is going to buy and sign any Gibson guitar from the Gibson site for me...

I currently play a Jackson and love it so will probably stay with it.

Therefor, the Gibson will probably be picked for resale value...

I see that there are Gibsons listed up to about $20K... Which one has the best resale value??

Also, would the band signatures be of value?

If i was getting a 20 grand Gibson i would deck anybody that came within 10 yards of it with a marker pen! dont care who they are, well maybe i would let Page daube his scribble on it, but only page!! and maybe Keef too, Laughing

but that would have to be a Fender, who the hell are ReelBigFish? never heard of them.. if this post is for real then go for a custom shop Les Paul '58, or something like that, they would be the easiest to sell on.

Ah yes, I remember Kitten Kong well enough. (Actually, I'm sad enough to have that on DVD, but less about that...)

That's just my little Vox Brian May amp - it's got some nice tones on it. I do have a real AC-30 - one of the rare piggyback models - but to be honest I haven't turned it on in years - it's a bit too loud for my neighbourhood to handle, I think.

Now I'm a bit worried about using it at all. I've heard that it can be dangerous to use valve equipement after years of inacrtivity; the valves might blow or something. Does anyone know anything about this?

Ive not heard anything like that before, i Had a Hiwatt 100 watt orignal head given to me by our old bass player, he had it in the loft since the late 70's, and he used to play bass through it in a punk band, i plugged it in an all the capacitors needed replacing, but all the valves except one was working, and that was a bit microphonic, of course i replaced them all with a proper matched set, but i think your tubes should be fine.
And being a VOX nut i did know that was a Brian May amp, still not sure about the cat though, and as a suggestion, have you thought about letting the AC30 go and getting a Korg pre Chinese VOX AC15 with blue speaker?, you get a more managable volume and one of the best tones out there.

Hey, he's a cool cat. He's the only cat I've known to be fascinated by guitar playing. He watches the strings vibrate, and has been known to come up to the guitar and twang the strings with his teeth! Who else out there has got a guitar playing cat? Yeah, walking across keyboards, easy, but guitars?

Anway, sorry, I'd not heard of this Korg/Vox AC15 thing. It might still be too much for my needs though.

I doubt they have money to burn, but I happen to own reelbigfish.com (or did until we cut the deal). It was the site for my yacht.

The guitar and travel plus passes for 4 of us to a major venue were the negotiated price for the domain name.

ReelBigFish are not well known in Europe, but have a good following in the biggest market (USA). You just happened to own the dotcom domain name. Bit like your farm sitting on an oil-lake, or the projected site of the railroad junction. Put another way; supposing you had a Gary Powers infosite called "U2.com" - there might be a well-known Irish band (and Island Records) interested in acquiring that domain.

Anybody interested in looking up that band will try "reelbigfish.com" as their first attempt. ".org", ".tv" etc don't even come close. The record company spends waaaay in excess of 20k plugging the band on radio, TV etc.

Too late now, but you could've held out for more - and in cold cash. Nevermind. If you absolutely have to settle for a guitar, do as Lee says. A top o' range LP, decline the "signed by band offer". Instead, get a signed copy of the handwritten setlist of the gig you're going to. I doubt if the guys will make "Beatles" status, but that piece of paper would make more than the guitar if they did. Assuming they don't, you've got a nice (unmarked) Gibson to sell.

No prob, what you say makes sense. I think I will do that. Unsigned guitar. Already have LOTS of other signed stuff from them, got a large care package of stuff. But I think I will get the signed set list.

They do have several dates in the UK on this tour though.
