Warney alone has enough raunchy material to fill a whole season.

Never quite got cricket...I was on both (league and union) Rugby teams at school, but I never really got that either, it consisted 'of grab this big slippery egg thing, run as fast as hook until you taste soil then people will stand on you...in pointy shoes. I was quite highly revered for this and 'represented my school in both disiplines' for 5 years...which may explain something.

I was hit by a cricket ball once...that was enough, I opted to play hockey with the girls from then on, which was nice.

Tim.

I dont think you have to 'in' to cricket to basque in the glory of our Aussie beating and world beating team, as Kenneth Williams once said, 'They dont like it up em' , and looking at the reports coming out of Oz, they certainly dont! , the drains are coming up, and the a certain amount of 'rodding' will be performed over the next few months.

I believe the Queen is giving Ricky Ponting a Knighthood.

I had the pleasure of seeing a sneak preview of Her Majesty's speech...
"The colonial man Ponting has earned this honour for services to English cricket, in particular his brilliant decision to put England in to bat on the first day of the second test - I'd Knight him twice if I could"

First Lee said "I promise i wont say another word on it"

The very next day he said "basque in the glory of our Aussie beating and world beating team"

Before you go too far in becoming a Spanish separatist, you might like to consider the fact that Australia is still Number 1 on the ICC test rankings. Probably because we beat India at home.... how long since England beat India at home????

I will bow down and honour the England cricket team if they can beat Australia at home in the next series, or when they reach Number 1 on the ICC rankings, or when they can beat David Boon's record for the most number of beers drunk on a single flight from London to Sydney!

i was refering to Basses 'Tennis exploits' not The Greatest Cricket team ever to grace the game, also you cant blame rickys decision to bat on the series defeat, it was one innings out of 2 on 1 test out of 5, it was a bad mistake, but it was the mighty world beating England that won the Ashes, not rickys mad batting decision.

Lee, my old mucker...

I do realize that "beaten in tennis by a 10yo" was a bad post, but it might be a "call time". Lucky old Jason thinks your Basque-ing reflects a desire to leave Spain and call your kids "Ikar". I'm less fortunate.

At this hour, I have visions of you celebrating the win by wearing a tassled tit-top with the cross of St George over your nips. "Freddie" Flintoff (product of nearby school) learing at you through drunken half-lids. Shades of Alan Partridge, frankly disturbing, and I've got work tomorrow Laughing

Speaking of basking in glory, I onder what state the players will be in when they report back for county duties? Kevin Pietersen was on breakfast TV still looking drunk as a skunk yesterday. It's been a few days; thought they'd have emptied the bottles by now.

Creaky old pedant that I am,

Apart from basques being rather fetching breast-vests (on the right sort of figure - female Smile ), it wasn't Kenneth Williams who said "they don't like it up 'em".

He may have been repressed, but old Ken wouldn't have gone that hetero. You're thinking of Lance Corporal Jones (Clive Dunn of Dad's Army) who reckoned the Germans "don't like it up 'em".
