| this is really weird, i was telling mike last month i bought a few DVD boxset's and one was Partridge series 2 which is where this came from, i watched this DVD last week and wanted to ask who played the bass line, but had no reference to go on, it's a cracking bass riff, so who played it?? |

As an avid Partridge fan, I remember that episode, and always assumed it was Mick Karn of Japan (perhaps Tim would understand my mistake). Nope; the track is "Music for Chameleons" by Gary Numan and he employed a young Pino Palladino. I saw them both at a GN gig of about that time. His fretless playing is very distinctive; cf Paul Young's "Wherever I Lay My Hat"
I ought to put Chameleons in the Bass Cat's "Best Bass Riffs" thread; and I've got a horrible feeling that John Deacon's "Another One Bites the Dust" isn't mentioned there, either. |

I had thought of that Tim. Definitely worthy of the bass best of.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to order my Partridge DVDs from our motherland as it just aint coming to Aus. |
