Without doubt, go for the Epiphone.

As a complete beginner you will be better off with a guitar with a solid tailpiece versus the tremelo tailpiece on the Kramer as this will enable you to get used to tuning the instrument and having it stay in tune. With a tremolo system you will struggle with the tuning and probably never get an "inner sense" of how a tuned guitar sounds.

I've had a Strat with a trem for 15 years and tuning is still a problem. I would never use one on a professional engagement unless specifically required to do so.

The Epiphone is a very good guitar once it has been set up (action adjusted etc.) and I've owned one up until recently. You should get years of enjoyment from it.

Right then... any questions?!!!

Consider blocking off the tremolo, because as has been pointed out above, tuning problems are accidents waiting to happen with that guitar.

The Epi is the better guitar, when you upgrade in a year's time you will get a good price for the Epi, the other guitar will get you a lot less.

Going cheap is'nt a good idea with guitars ,you get what you pay for like it was stated before epiphones will get you more in trade in value.and are a nice guitar to play come on its basically a gibson.

Else, find out what mid to higher priced guitar you would like and see about getting one 2nd hand.

I got a fantastic Washburn Idol WI-165 DL earlier this week at less than half the retail price. (From eBay of course)
