Fast Reply ***** BUY IT ******

Bass forum can somtimes take months to answer.. Shocked

Quick look over the ebay pages pulled this one up:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-FENDER-SQUIRE-JAPAN-BULLET-BASS-1983-84_W0QQitemZ260082680141QQihZ016QQcategoryZ38079QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem

most things Japanese and Fender are top quality, $250 is nothing for an instrument of this quality.

Maybe a coupla days, Lee Twisted Evil . The Bullet did come up in a thread "Need a short scale bass" in the bass category back in December. There are various types of Squier Bullet Bass (some 30", some 34" scale. Early ones had Mustang Bass style split pickup and Telebass style headstock - JV serials had US made pup - later ones more resembled the Precision but with a dinkier, non-contoured body) but any of the Japanese ones are worth having. The current Squier Bullet Bass is a sorry specimen.

If you passed on this one @ $250, don't despair. In the US, they can still be had cheaply because (wrt our American cousins) many players still think of Japanese Squiers as cheap planks whereas in Britain the quality is well known and prices are higher. Even so, while I was looking around, I found this Precision-style Japanese Bullet on sale at a Southampton dealer for a paltry £89:

If I were right-handed, I'd take it like a shot. Vastly preferable to an OLP and suchlike.
