Lee on a game show? The editor would have to cut out 4 hours of him piping off every band to ever record a song Smile

Speaking of TV... this one ties in....

I've gotta goody:

- I'm American
- One of my songs was used for a very popular TV show (though I did not sing the TV version)
- I also sang the song for another popular TV show.
- Despite having television 'hits', I still had regular hits in the 70s.
- I've played and co-produced with a band whose name has numbers in it
- I've played alongside the drummer from a band with the same name as a famous dog from a yellow brick road.
- I play multiple instruments, including guitar and piano.
- (new clue) soft rock

let the games begin........

BTW, Shake "1st Canband to have a US #1" finally made it WikiGoogliable. Not saying that Mike did take that dishonourable route, of course...

Wasn't Dorothy's dog called "Toto"? If the drummer in question is from that shite, LA bunch of softies, I haven't got a hope of answering this one.

I indeed took the google root!! after 5 days of tearing my hair out, you really think I wasn't gonna resort to wikipedia! Laughing

Yes, some would say the artist in my new question is both soft rock and a soft cock.

I know you can't possibly be bagging out Toto for real though.

Ugh....no idea Mike. Don't know if that's really worthy of a post, but oh well.....

What year(s) did this famous TV show(s) run that you wrote the song(s) for? And was it an American show?

American Show which began in 1985. Very famous show.

Could well have been YOUR favourite show.

The other began 92 I believe.

You guys should really thank me for being a friend giving all these clues. Shheeeesh.

Aha! Was looking at the clues again and I finally got it. Should've gotten it sooner. The "your" favorite show gave it away. I was thinking..."why me?" and then it came to me.

The tv show is Cheers, and the author of it is Gary Portnoy, who also penned the theme songs to "Punky Brewster" and "Mr. Belvedere"

Wait, Cheers premiered in 1982.....uh oh......but that's gotta be it. I can't think of any others. If that's not it I'm stumped.

Nope, that can't be it, because Portnoy sang the version on Cheers, and your previous clues said he didn't sing the TV version....nor do many of the other previous clues work.

....hmmmmm.....
