Ok. im a very new budding guitarist. In my meager collection i have a mexican made Fender strat which was my first guitar. My original Crate amp ( that i got used from a friend of a friend) blew up last year so when i went shopping for a new one. Somehow the salesmen put a Schecter C1 Elite in my hands and i instantly fell in love with that guitar so i brought it home along with my Peavy Valve King 112 Tube amp.

Now the dilema im currently Facing. My mother runs the sales dept for a company that produces Circuit boards. One of her customers is Gibson Guitars. They were having a problem with a new board for one of their new guitars that they couldnt fix so my mom's engineers fixed it for them free of charge and produced the board for them.

To thank her for going the extra mile they have offered her. Her choice of any gibson guitar she wants. Excluding the guitar of the week and a true *custom* .

Im leaning towards getting a Les Paul but having a hard time really deciding what i want. The new Robot guitar ( self tuning/self innotating) looks quite nice for a new guitarist. But theres also a great draw towards a nice Les Paul Standard or a Les Paul Studio as well.

If you all had the to make a decision on what Free Gibson you would take what would you choose and why?

Did you say excluding Customs? or Custom Shops? i would have to go for a Les Paul Custom, black beauty or something along those lines, i would not go for the robot guitar, what a waste of money on a gimmick, the studio is ok but why not go the whole hog and get a LP custom?
great dilemma though, keep us updated.

Wow this is cool. They'll probably make you wait too long on a Robot and even then chances are wouldn't be one of the limiteds.

Assuming you can't get a custom, what about a BFG or a 50s reissue. I'd wanna use up at least 3K.

Personally, I'd choose the Les Paul DC Pro (doublecut, because for me the aesthetics of the regular Les Paul are all wrong).

BTW, isn't the navigation on the Gibson wesbite shite?

Yeah, I agree with glw about the DC Pro, looks great, should sound great too.

Although for me it'd be the SG reissue bass, in ebony. Obviously.

For looks, a Classic Custom black or the Supreme with AAAA maple back and front but...

For a keeper, I'm tempted by that digital one with the hex pup. It's already a LP, which is nice, but that thing's capable of almost anything, sonically.
